Opening in all cinemas starting December 25, Filipino-produced films for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2013 will surely cater all ages because of the variety of stories to choose. For family oriented, there’s the Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy of Star Cinema and Viva Films that stars Vice Ganda, Maricel Soriano, and Ruffa Gutierrez that tackles the story of quadruplets that were reunited after decades of separation and must work together as family in order to make the right decision. There’s also the movie of Vic Sotto, Bimby Aquino-Yap, Kris Aquino and Ryzza Mae Dizon entitled My Little Bossings. It follows the journey of two kids with different status in life but need to love together as a family. Another family oriented movie is the life story of Pedro Calungsod: Ang Batang Martir played by Rocco Nacino. The film narrates the holy life of the young saint that became part of the team of missionaries and catechists and will embrace God’s will until death. Last but not the least for this genre is the final instalment of Kimmy Dora series entitled Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel staring Eugene Domingo, Sam Milby, Ariel Ureta and Angel Aquino. The film will be showing the story of the iconic twins on how they started as the powerful heiresses of the Go Dong Hae Corporation.
For the teenagers there’s the Pagpag Siyam na Buhay of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla following the stories of “barkadas” who will face the consequences after breaking superstitions connected to death. There’s also the dance movie entitled Kaleidoscope World starring Sef Cadayon following the story of teenagers having the fashion of dancing that features the song of the late master rapper Francis Magalona. Lastly for the adults there’s two action films on the MMFF 2013. First is Boy Golden of ER Ejercito and KC Concepcion following the story of the famous gangster with the same moniker from his golden years until it end. And finally Robin Padilla returns to the festival with 10, 000 Hours following the story of a politician that was caught in the middle of a political turmoil and he needed to solve it.
Films included at the MMFF 2013 will all be shown in cinemas nationwide beginning December 25 until second or third week of January 2014. All films will be included on the awards night where recognitions to the best actresses and actors, screenplay, director, film and others will be given. Who do you think will make it?
