Pagpag Siyam Na Buhay marks director Frasco Mortiz’ first ever mainstream project with Star Cinema and at the same time with Metro Manila Film Festival but not the first work with the actors of the teenage horror film. Kathryn Bernardo, Miles Ocampo and CJ Navato were alumni of the top-rating and long-running children gag show of ABS-CBN entitled Goin Bulilit where Frasco is the director. He said that he’s glad to work with them again and see how they matured not only as actors but also as individuals.
According to Frasco, Pagpag Siyam Na Buhay is the only horror film at the 2013 MMFF and it is a “barkada” horror film where the last one he can recall was the “Magandang Hating Gabi” in 1997. The film is a joint project of Star Cinema and Regal Films that also stars Daniel Padilla to partner with Kathryn together with other teenage stars Michelle Vito and Dominic Roque. It is about superstitions on how to act during a wake where most of those were broken that lead to various incidents to the main characters that will cause their lives. Here’s the video of Direk Frasco’s interview talking about the film:
Frasco shared that he enjoyed working with the teen stars and excited to see the feedback of the moviegoers who will be watching the movie starting Christmas Day. He is hoping that everyone will enjoy the film most especially the followers of KathNiel. Pagpag Siyam Na Buhay also stars Paulo Avelino, Shaina Magdayao and Matet de Leon.
