In line with the on-going relief efforts of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in the Philippines for affected families of Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), partner KFC donated Php 1 Million to support the said campaign. KFC is part of the YUM! Brands where it is a long time partner of WFP in terms of global world hunger relief particularly with the WFP Philippines office in the conflict driven and disaster prone areas in Mindanao.
Because WFP is the biggest humanitarian agency of UN, they extended their efforts on the Yolanda affected areas in the country by providing them with nutrition and soon with rehabilitation. They already launched the SMS donation in countries like UK, Canada and USA and for global efforts for online cash donations it is course through the www.WFP.org/Typhoon.
With the support of KFC on this campaign where as they already encourage the public to contribute donations for the recovery efforts in kind at selected KFC branches in Metro Manila including clothes, blanket, slippers, non-perishable food, bottled water and medicine. In addition has pledged to donate Php 5.00 from every 8-piece bucket meal purchased to aid the rebuilding of affected Visayas areas. Customers can also donate through canisters located at the cashier area.
