Coming from a very successful portrayal of the character Jennifer Sevilla in the TV adaptation of the Salvador Royales’s Mundo Man ay Magunaw radio turned movie in Seiko Films, Nikki Gil returns to television and this time on Primetime to play the role of the iconic nemesis named Mistica in the Pinoy version of Maria Mercedes. She will be one of the characters who will challenge protagonist named Mercedes played by Jessy Mendiola. Joining them in the Philippine remake of Maria Mercedes are Jason Abalos, Jake Cuenca, Vina Morales, Vivian Velez, and Ariel Rivera. It is directed by Chito S. Roño.
As Mistica, Nikki will be more of a woman who wanted to bring back her love in the personality of Luis played by Jake. She will do everything just to win him back even it takes her step on the emotions of anyone who comes her way even Mercedes who became close to Luis. Unlike with the character of Jenny in Mundo Man Ay Magunaw, Nikki shared that her character there was an antagonist because of the competition in school and the truth that was hidden from her. In Maria Mercedes, the emotions of her character came from the competition of wanting to get what’s for her and that is the man she love.
Nikki mentioned that there’s no problem in doing offbeat role. She finds it challenging and the chance to bring out her emotions rather than suppress it just like most of the protagonists in all the teleseryes and films. She was asked if where she’s coming from she jokingly said that it will take long if she will enumerate it all but in regards with her ex-boyfriend she said she really moved on. And she’s happy with all the projects she’s receiving.
Catch Nikki Gil on a very challenging role together with Jessy Mendiola, Jake Cuenca and Jason Abalos in Maria Mercedes on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida starting October 7.
