In line with the showing of OTJ (On-the-Job) in all cinemas nationwide beginning August 28, the director of the action-packed film Erik Matti confirms that it will be the possible start of bringing back male-concept in the Philippine film industry. OTJ stars Piolo Pascual, Gerald Anderson, Joel Torre, Joey Marquez, Empress, Angel Aquino, Rayver Cruz, Vivian Velez, Michael de Mesa, Rosanna Roces and JM de Guzman in a joint partnership of Star Cinema and Reality Entertainment.
Direk Erik mentioned that the film was created more than two years. It follows the story of four main characters namely NBI agent Francis (Piolo), Police Sgt. Joaquin (Joey), and two prisoners Daniel (Gerald) and Tatang (Joel). The film goes deeper in how politicians hired criminals who are behind bars to do dirty jobs at the same time with Francis and Joaquin will go on that gray area to reveal the anomaly until they will face Daniel and Tatang who will be their greatest enemies.
OTJ marks the first action-packed film for Piolo and Gerald who were usually assigned in both heavy drama and romantic comedy themes in their TV and movie projects. For the two actors it was very challenging to do OTJ and work with Direk Erik where the director handpicked Piolo for the role of Francis and it was Piolo who introduced Gerald to do the role of Daniel. With the modern approach on the action concept of OTJ, Direk Erik sees it as a starting point for producers and filmmakers to actually create male-genre films that will actually be accepted in the film industry.
OTJ is part of Star Cinema’s 20 years offering.
