The Conjuring is officially now showing in all cinemas nationwide here in the Philippines and distributed by Warner Bros Pictures. It is a supernatural horror film directed by James Wan and starring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson playing the roles of Lorraine and Ed Warren, respectively. Based on a true story, The Conjuring follows the story of the Perron family who are experiencing very disturbing events in their new home in Harrisville, Rhode Island in 1971.
The film the way I see it is a mixture of a family drama and horror/suspense at the same time. It gives everyone an idea on a kind of family the Warrens and Perrons are and how the supernatural activities made their lives miserable. Which also, it shows how family made them stronger in the end sorry for the spoiler. The Conjuring offers a kind of suspense that will really give everyone an intense scream on their seats because of the right texture of the film which is very gloomy that represents how tragic the story is at the same time the fast phase execution of the scenes that really push every viewer in the edge of their seats.
Vera, the actress who portrayed the character of Lorraine Warren did a very good performance. I really enjoyed her character from being a clairvoyant and someone who can see the spirits and elements in the story. The way she narrates the story really gives me the goose bumps. Lastly, the film is not the usual horror monster type of movie it attacks its viewers in the emotional side which I mentioned earlier the family and bring out that fear in the viewers.
If you’re asking me if its good, I am definitely say yes because the film is beyond the graphics or any prosthetics which we now see in most of horror movies. It is Rated R-13 and I suggest better watch it with friends so you will have someone to grab while having that good scream inside the cinema.
