July 22, 2013 marks the fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) of the President Benigno Aquino III also marking in his middle term as the current president of the Philippines. Coming from the first three SONA of President Aquino we all remember the concept of the straight and righteous path under his administration which he take out the wang-wang system that symbolizes the abuse of authority which according to him it was the first step in bringing change in the country. His battle against poverty and improving economy were also his priority in his SONA which according to the president it can be address through jobs and paying right taxes.
He encourages everyone to join him in the straight and righteous path under administration in their fight against corruption where he keeps on reminding everyone that his boss are the Filipino people whom he is serving. Through his fight against corruption it will help alleviate poverty along with his campaign against the wang-wang system aside from the vehicles of the public officials but also in every sector of the society and government offices.
As always, SONA from the arrival politicians, VIPS, special guests and members of the cabinet of President Aquino up to the presentation of yearly report up to the selection of who will be the House Speaker and Senate President until the end it will surely be a grand masquerade which we the boss of the president down to the politicians will be watching the drama and suspense. Sadly, few days before the SONA where I had the chance to chat with Communications Department Secretary Sonny Coloma about the Freedom of Information where the administration is bringing it and yes it will not be discussed on SONA 2013 along with the Political Dynasty which we all know no one will support it.
What are we expecting? Economic growth, peace talks, new jobs and not to mention the criticisms against the former administration and his critics. I am hoping on the midterm report of the President Aquino is that more on reality and less on the flowery words and back lashing. Focus more on the concern on real plans on reducing poverty, public health, disaster preparedness, environmental concerns, giving the right answer to educational concerns, national security and peace talks. SONA 2013 will surely include beautiful visual presentations and ensures applauses but I hope it will be beyond that that everyone who will be watching it must be more critical, observing and opinionated after all what Sec. Coloma mentioned they are very open to feedback both positive… and even negative… I hope.
