Also part with the 60 Years of Philippine Television and in the service of the Filipinos worldwide, ABS-CBN brings back the golden years of Philippine cinema with the King of Philippine Movies himself Fernando Poe Jr. The Kapamilya network recently acquired the FPJ Film Collections where the collection is more than 250 films and it will be airing on ABS-CBN starting this September. Present at the contract signing are Susan Roses the wife of FPJ and Senator Grace Poe-Llamanzares the daughter of FPJ and the ABS-CBN Management including ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio and Channel 2 Head Cory Vidanes.
Susan Roses sees that ABS-CBN will be taking care of the FPJ Film Collections which they will help preserve the legacy of Fernando Poe Jr. and introduce him to the younger generation. Roses also mentioned that King of Philippine Movies loves the masses which he choose to do roles that similar to them from being a police, carpenter, baranggay official, market vendor and many more.
FPJ started his showbiz career in 1955 until 2004. Among the notable film that he made was the Lo Waist Gang in 1957 that made him popular. He received FAMAS Award for Best Actor for the films Mga Alabok ng Lupa in 1967, Asedillo in 1971, Durugin si Totoy Bato, Umpisahan Mo, Tatapusin Ko in 1983, and Muslim Magnum .357 in 1987. He became closer to all Filipinos with his iconic character Flavio in the mythical Ang Panday series and films including Kahit Konting Pagtingin, Dito sa Pitong Gatang and Aguila. Pakners was the last movie he did with the 9-ball billiards champion Efren “Bata” Reyes. He was declared National Artist of the Philippines for Film in 2006 by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and the award was confirmed and given by President Benigno Aquino III on July 2012 and August 2012 respectively.
