In line with the opening of another school year, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia donated 150 tons of dates to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) that will contribute to the school feeding programme of the agency in the conflict affected areas in Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). Present at the turn over of the 150 tons of dates in the Royal Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Makati were Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ambassador to the Philippines Abdullah Al-Hassan, senior representative of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Finance in Riyadh Saad Al Sunaidi WFP Philippines Representative and Country Director Praveen Agrawal.
The 150 tons of dates will be distributed in the conflict affected areas in ARMM through the WFP school feeding the fruit contains essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that will contribute to the children’s growth and development.
In coordination with the Philippine Department of Social Welfare and Development, WFP will distribute the dates – which the students will take home – to about 65,000 vulnerable families in the conflict-affected provinces in ARMM.
