It’s been almost 10 years already since my father passed away, but his memories along with his reminder to us to be strong with our principles and dedication to our crafts will always be there. Coming from a simple family, my father at the younger age became a working student in order to pursue his dream to be a geodetic engineer and later landed in the Bureau of Lands before where he met my mother and later a private company of real estate hired him. I am not that 100% close to my father because of some of our views in life, he will always be the silent protester into politics; I am the one who usually exercise it on the street especially during my collage days. He disapproves my involvement into school paper and student paper which he knows it will be my option to be more opinionated which he wanted me to be just a normal regular student. But he finally accepted my vocal stand rather than sitting in front of the TV watching news and seeing what happen in the world. He just said to me that if I really want this being opinionated in things he reminded me that I should weigh both sides and find the right time when to be vocal about it.
Dad, you thought me the importance of finding the perfect time for certain things aside from the life you gave me along with the education and advices you gave me. Sometimes we have arguments especially with my involvement with political orgs and school paper because you were afraid of something might happen to me. Despite of your disapproval you still supported me on my craft and my principles which you said hold on to it and have a strong passion that will lead me on a better life. And yes Dad, it really happened. Beyond the wealth and material things that you and mom tries to moderate to your children and thought us to be resourceful at all times. Now, I am working on the field that I love which is media, my two sisters; an accountant and a teacher. Thank you for wonderful gift that you gave us and that is letting us find our passion and craft and keeping our feet on the ground always. Salamat sa pamana mo Dad!
For everyone, whether their fathers are living or not or having a mother or guardian who took the responsibility of being a father have a time to thank them or cherish their legacy. Sometimes they disapprove the path you are going maybe because that they wanted to best for us or they wanted for us to show or explain the worth of it. In my case, I let my father discover my path and he understands it and the pamana he gave me; believe to myself, having passion on what I am doing and keeping my feet on the ground. Happy Father’s Day to you guys!
