The much awaited Man of Steel film of Zack Snyder will officially fly in all cinemas here in the Philippines beginning June 12, Independence Day! The superhero film is actually a reboot of the Superman film series and touches on the origin of the DC Comics character named Superman. Playing the role of Clark Kent and his superhero alter ego is Henry Cavill and will be joined by Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Diana Late, Kevin Costner, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer and Russell Crowe.
The Man of Steel takes on the journey of the young Clark Kent who learned that he has extraordinary powers which her real identity being Ka-El and came from the planet Krypton. Still he was cared and nourished by his adopted parents by Jonathan (Cosner) and Martha (Lane) hoping he will be an ordinary kid just like others until he discover the reason why he was sent on Earth and that is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.
The film will give a new taste to the Superman character giving everyone back story of his superhero character and making them see that beyond the cape and the S logo was a human side of him. Unlike the usual “immortal” superhero, Man of Steel shows him as a vulnerable person who has emotions, can feel pain and searching for answers. That’s why the film will surely be new to the followers of Superman and a deeper presentation especially to the first timers who will be seeing the character on the big screen after the 2006 film or the Smallville TV Series that runs in 2001 until 2011.
Man of Steel was produced by Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder. The screenplay was written by David S. Goyer, from a story by Goyer & Nolan, based upon Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster and published by DC Entertainment.
