Few days after the official release of the coveted Samsung Galaxy S4 that sells like hotcakes now on the consumer market, Samsung Mobile announces the arrival of another phablet (phone and tablet) device after the success of Samsung Galaxy Note II last December. The Samsung Galaxy Mega will be officially out in the market and will cater for the Note and tablet lovers by June 15, 2013.
There will be two versions of Samsung Galaxy Mega the 6.3 and 5.8 models. The name of the models actually pertains to the display of the two devices. The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 has a 6.3-inch HD Super Clear LCD with an LTE100/50Mbps and HSPA+42/5.76 mobile internet connection. Running on a 1.7GHz Dual Core AP with an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera and 1.9 megapixel front-facing camera it will offer a wide range of camera features including Beauty Face, Best Photo, Best Face, Drama, Rich Tone (High Dynamic Range), Sound & Shot, Sports, Continuous shot. Just like the Galaxy S4 it has features including Story Album, S Translator, Group Play, Air View, S Travel, Multi Window, S Voice 2.0, S Memo, Multi Window and Pop Up Play. The full dimension of the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 is 168.6 x 88.0 x 7.9 mm and weighs 197 grams with 8 GB internal memory and has external microSD memory card slot that can accommodate up to 64 GB.
Meanwhile the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 model has a dimension of 162.5 x 81.5 x 8.9 mm and weighs 182grams with 5.8 inch display a little bit bigger from the Note 2. Both devices are running on Android 4.2 Jellybean. The 5.8 also has an 8 GB internal memory and has external microSD memory card slot that can accommodate up to 64 GB. In terms of its difference with the 6.3 is that it doesn’t have the LTE feature but services like Story Album, S Translator, Group Play, Air View, S Travel, Multi Window, S Voice 2.0, S Memo, Multi Window and Pop Up Play are incorporated with this model.
According to CL Lee Managing Director of Samsung Electronics Philippines Corporation (SEPCO) that they see the great potential in the bigger screen for extensive viewing multimedia, web browsing, and more that’s why the Samsung Galaxy Mega will surely fit to cater the needs of the consumers. “We are excited to provide another choice to meet our consumers’ varying lifestyles, all while maintaining the high-quality features of the award-winning GALAXY series,” Lee explained.
