In the height of the 2013 Senatorial and Local Government Election where the influential showbiz icon and sister of the current president Kris Aquino confirms that she might be joining the 2016 election. Unlike her brother and current president of the Philippines Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III who started his political career as congressman and later elected senator before their mother former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino passed away, Kris mentioned during the interview in one of campaign in Tacloban of the political party she is supporting that she will be starting on a local government position just like their father the late former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino II that started as Mayor of Concepcion Tarlac before he move to higher position.
Kris who is currently residing and registered voter in Makati City mentioned that she will not be running on the said city because she is a close friend of the Binays where the son of the current vice president Jejomar Binay is a re-electionist. She said that she doesn’t want to compete with them because it will be very hard to defeat the Binays. She mentioned that she might be running in Tarlac, their hometown in 2016 as mayor or governor.
Meanwhile, few days after Kris mentioned her goal to be public servant his brother President Noynoy and sisters told her not to elaborate more about her plans that might be used against her by her detractors along with the politicking in the current senatorial and LGU election that will happen on May 13.
