The counting continues so is others still believing that there will be a tremendous change in the current standing of the aspiring senators in this 2013 election. As posted by ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs as of 11:30PM with 68% of election returns being counted, the daughter of the late King of Philippine Cinema and former MTRCB chair Grace Poe is taking the lead almost 14,521,131, and followed by re-electionists Loren Legarda, Peter Alan Cayetano, and Chiz Escudero. Completing the upper six are Nancy Binay who is the daughter of the current Vice President and Sonny Angara a former Congressman of the Lone District of Aurora.
The other half includes Bam Aquino the cousin of the current President, followed by re-electionists Koko Pimentel and Antonio Trillanes IV. Securing her term on the 10th slot is former Representative of Lone District of Las Piñas City and wife of outgoing senator. Holding on the 11th and 12th slots are JV Ejercito Estrada the son of the former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada and was now elected as the Mayor of Manila and Gringgo Honasan a re-electionist.
With only 68% of election returns being returned already it seems that the upper six are now enjoying their sure placement in the Senate but in the remaining half there will be struggles on holding on to their current place until all the election returns being turned over to the COMELEC. Possible game changer on the lower six includes Dick Gordon, Miguel Zubiri and Jack Enrile who are in the 13th, 14th and 15th slots respectively. Meanwhile on Twitter, together with Gordon, Risa Hontioveros and Teddy Casiño were three of the political names that their supporters are still hoping that they will be joining on the final 12 of the elected Senators for this year’s election.
With the remaining more than 30% there might be chances that will break or make the dreams of aspiring candidates to enter the Senate Halls. So whatever their agenda and projects will be the Filipino people will stay vigilant hoping for a transparent and efficient government.
