In line with the annual fund raising of Yum! Brands that supports the World Hunger Relief Programme that benefits the efforts of World Food Programme (WFP) in fighting hunger and providing nutrition to children and pregnant women worldwide, here in the Philippines Pizza Hut and Taco Bell raised Php 7.7 Million for the said project. The fund will help the assistance program to families being affected by Typhoon Pablo (Bohpa) and for the emergency school feeding program headed by WFP Phillipines in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Department of Education (DepEd).
Present at the turn over of cheque are WFP Philippines Deputy Country Director Asaka Nyangara, Officer-in-Charge Marketing Department Pizza Hut and Taco Bell Philippines Raymund Nobleza, World Hunger Relief 2012 Shamcey Supsup and DSWD Assistant Secretary Camilio Gudmalin.
The World Hunger Relief campaign runs from November to early January of the following year, funds were raised through coin banks, Christmas Cards, and combo meals that Pizza Hut and Taco Bell where Php 10 will go to the said project. Areas covered by the WFP in the Philippines includes conflict affected areas in Mindanao including Cotabato, Lanao, Maguindanao and Sultan Kudarat and extended to the areas affected by Typhoon Pablo and Sendong. With the Php 7.7 M it will provide more than 700, 000 nutritious school meals to the 180, 000 students.
Up to date the partnership of YUM! Brands and WFP globally USD $148 Million and here in the Philippines they raised more than Php82 M.
