From the success of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol in 2011, Tom Cruise returns to the big screen with another action-packed film adapted from Lee Child’s 2005 novel One Shot entitled Jack Reacher. Written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the film also stars Rosamund Pike, Richard Jenkins, Werner Herzog, David Oyelowo and Robert Duvall and under the distribution of Paramount Pictures through Solar Entertainment.
Jack Reacher follows the story of an in-depth investigation on a random killing incident in PNC Park stadium that involves James Barr, a former army sharpshooter. During Barr’s interrogation about his reason for the assault, he only requested for John Reacher, a drifter and former Army Military Police officer in order for him to talk. Unfortunately, before Reacher he was beaten by other criminals and left him on a coma and it was only the man who is asking for and District Attorney Helen Rodin who will try everything to get deeper information that might save him from death penalty. And from there, they discovered deeper and darker details on the shooting incident that will drag more characters to the crime scene.
After owning the character of Ethan Hunt in the Mission: Impossible film franchise, Cruise will always be considered as a good looking action character that possesses that certain guts, sense of humor and mystery which he showed in the Jack Reacher film. With that he never fails to offer that kind of personality that really appeals to those who enjoyed witty action movie which sometimes for most of male movie goers they either idolize or envy him.
As for the film, Jack Reacher is not a 100% action film which we usually expect huge number of scenes with people in guns, car chasing and punching spree. Instead, it is more in the balance type of action and mystery film giving the movie goers to think and guess on the development of the story. So expect more on the talkies rather than action in this movie but surely everyone will enjoy the unlocking of the secrets, flashbacks and of course the car chase that will really push you on the edge of your seats.
Jack Reacher is now showing in all cinemas nationwide and distributed by Paramount Pictures through Solar Entertainment.
