After the success of Walang Hanggan that ended last November, Coco Martin will be returning on TV on 2013 with a new heroic character named Juan dela Cruz. Having the same title, Juan dela Cruz was introduced at the Kapamilya Network’s Trade Launch together with the rest of the ABS-CBN shows that will be premiering next year. Coco Martin will be joined by Erich Gonzales, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Gina Pareño.
Doing an action-heroic show is not new to Coco Martin after doing Minsan Lang Kita Iibigan as a rebel at the same time an army and also in Agimat Presents: Tonyong Bayawak. Set in 1940s Japanese colonial era, Coco as Juan will be the care taker of the holy cross that will serve as his weapon against the creatures of the darkness. Erich as Rosario will be Juan’s love interest in the show.
Juan dela Cruz also stars Albert Martinez, Joel Torre, Louise Abuel, Lotlot de Leon, Arron Villaflor, Neil Coleta, Jaime Fabregas and Izzy Canillo. The concept was originally for Metro Manila Film Festival which will be co-produced by Cinemedia Films Productions Incorporated that also produced Noy where Coco was the lead actor. But the ABS-CBN Unit Head, Deo Endrinal confirmed that it would be serialized into a television drama to be directed by Malu Sevilla.
