From mainstream to digital, Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) recognizes the talents of filmmakers, writers, producers, actors and everyone behind the cameras who shares their passion in creating beautiful films for the entertainment industry and its supporters. Now another category will be introduced at the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival on December 2012 and this is the Cine-Phone Film Festival. It will be the 1st Cine-Phone Film Festival that will be included in the one of the categories of MMFF which was organized by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and supported by wireless leader Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart).
The 1st Cine-Phone Film Festival will be open to all high school and college students all over the country who wanted to showcase their talents by creating a 3 minute-long movies that are completely shot using their mobile phones. With the theme of Restoring Road Courtesy Among Motorists and Pedestrians, entries should show values such as courtesy, discipline, and respect. Cine-Phone participants simply need to submit a one-page synopsis of their story by August 20, 2012 together with the registration form that can be downloaded at www.facebook.com/metromanilafilmfest.
The screening process will be headed by the director Paul Soriano. There will be 60 stories to be selected among the pool of entries; 20 from Luzon, 20 from Visayas, and 20 from Mindanao. They will be mentored by Direk Paul prior to the shooting of the videos, and compete for the top six winning slots. These six winners will each receive P25,000, Smart broadband kits, Smart cellphones, a host of other gadgets, and will be awarded during the 38th MMFF Awards Night on December 27, 2012. Aside from the winners there will be People’s Choice Award where Smart mobile subscribers can vote via SMS whom they think next “Rock Star” of the independent movie scene.
