Few days after the late Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jessy Robredo was brought to his final rest in his hometown in Naga City after dying from plain crash in Masbate last August 18, former senator and now the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Manuel ” Mar” Roxas II will be replacing Robredo soon. In the report posted in ABS-CBNNews.com it says that a reliable source informed them that President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III will be appointing Mar Roxas as the new chief of DILG which the president give Roxas a phone call regarding his decision to put him in the said position.
Also mentioned in the report, Roxas is a strong contender for the position just like Robredo who has the integrity and hard work to reform DILG just what he did in DOTC. And Roxas, just like Robredo has never been involved in anomalies. While Cavite Representative Joseph Emilio Abaya, also a Liberal Party just like Roxas will be appointed as the new DOTC Secretary immediately after Mar Roxas transfer to DILG.
Roxas is President Aquino’s running mate during the 2010 Presidential Election, where as he lost from Jejomar Binay in the Vice President seat who was also interested in the DILG post before Robredo was appointed. Meanwhile, Roxas is a strong contender of the LP group as their 2016 Presidential Race and might be facing Binay again for the same post.
Mar Roxas was one of the cabinet secretaries of President Aquino who led the team in search for Robredo during the plane crash in Masbata that takes almost three days before the recovery of the late secretary. It will be a challenge for Roxas to fill in the position of the late secretary who was loved by every Filipinos because of his integrity and and transparency in his two years of leadership in the office of DILG.
