The campaign to give life to Pasig River continues with the help of the ABS-CBN Foundation’s Kapit Bisig sa Ilog Pasig (KBPIP) and with the Run for the Pasig River 2012 that will help raised funds for the cleaning and rehabilitation of the Pasig River and the esteros in Metro Manila. The advocacy run will kick off on September 30, 2012 and it will happen at the Quezon City Memorial Circle in Quezon City.
There will be three (3) categories for this year including the 15K Ride & Roll which starts at 4AM, 15K Commonwealth Challenge Run that will start on 4:10AM and 5K Morning Madness Run at 6AM. All categories will start at the Quezon City Memorial Circle going straight to Commonwealth Avenue and back. It will be different this year because the advocacy event will be opening their doors to bikers and skate boarders for the 15K Ride & Roll.
Eric Emperio, over-all-race director for the Run for the Pasig River 2012 created the idea of the Commonwealth Challenge for the serious runners and it is very rare to open Commonwealth Avenue for marathons and for the advocacy run it will really give the runners the experience that they will never forget. The organizers already ensure safety and route for this.
The Run for Pasig River started in 2009 that kicks off the rehabilitation of Estero de Paco that continued in 2010 that gained 116, 087 and gained the Guiness World Record for the most participated in a racing event. And last year the KBPIP started their rehabilitation program at the Estero de San Miguel just behind the Malacanang Palace.
