Now showing in all cinemas nationwide and available in IMAX and regular format, The Dark Knight Rises directed by Christopher Nolan gives a new taste in the character of Selina Kyle popularly known as Catwoman or the cat buglar one of the nemesis but also a love interest to Batman. In the third installment of the Dark Knight trilogy of Nolan he presented Selina Kyle as cat burglar, a grifter, a classic movie femme fatale in the image of Anne Hathaway. The Dark Knight Rises is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
Unlike in the Batman Returns (1992) movie also Warner Bros. Selina Kyle is a fragile secretary of millionaire Max Shreck who pushes her from the top of the building when she discovers the true nature of his plans and while on the floor the cats flock on her and tried to resurrect her. After surviving the fall that resulted to psychotic break and leads to personality change he empowers herself as the Catwoman and must return to revenge against Shreck for his several unpunished crimes. In this film Selina Kyle/Catwoman was played by Michelle Pfeiffer.
Now in The Dark Knight Rises, Selina Kyle is more vocal, powerful, cunning, attractive cat burglar where she will be meeting Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) during the down side of his life. According to Nolan, with the setting of having Bruce being isolated from years and with a broken soul she will be meeting Kyle that’s for him is fascinating and funny that leads to connection to each other.
“I think Bruce owes Selina a big thank you because he was leading a pretty lonely life until she came in and got his blood pumping and reminded him that there are fun people out there in the world. One of the things that fans have always enjoyed about Bruce and Selina is the playful side of their relationship. They may operate very differently, but they actually have a lot in common: they like to keep certain things hidden; they’re usually several steps ahead of everyone else in the room; and they prefer to dress in black,” Hathaway explains.
Hathaway also said that she did look in the archival comics and read a lot about Bob Kane’s inspirations for the character that she will be playing. She also said that she is a huge fan of Nolan’s work and enjoyed working with him and Bale on the movie and of course playing one of the most famous female comic book characters.
