In line with the growing numbers of reported HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)cases in the country, there are so many non-government organizations (NGOs) stoodup to take responsibility in spreading awareness to combat the spread of the virus indifferent communities. The group “The Love Yourself” is one of them who take part ofthis advocacy and on July 8, 2012 they will be opening the “The Love Yourself Hub” at1850 Leon Guinto St., Malate, Manila to extend their reach to everyone both living withHIV and those who want to take part in the spreading of awareness as volunteers and advocates.
The Love Yourself Hub will deal on the needs of everyone to be educated about the sexual transmitted infection (STI), HIV and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) through counseling and education, wellness, prevention, cure and rehabilitation of the communities it serves specially the youth and LGBT-MSM communities. One of their major activity or program is the HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT) that will help the person know if he or she is an HIV positive or not which includes counseling depending on his or her result. This will also help the Research Institute for Topical Medicine (RITM) to gather information in possible HIV cases.
With the help of The Love Yourself project and other NGOs that supports the awareness campaign on HIV/AIDS, they will help those who wanted to be educated and give free HIV screening to everyone who is freely to be tested and at the same time to know the rights of those living with HIV that are victims of discrimination on their work, community and at home. In line with their anniversary there will be series of events including film showing, and fund raising to further extend their programs and widen their reach to other communities. There will be also an photography exhibit headed by Ian Felix Alquiros that will help raised funds for the exhibit was called How Do I Love Thee.
