Last May 22, at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Makati City the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Philippines His Excellency Abdukkah I. Al-Hassan together with Saudi Ministry of Finance, Department of Foreign Affairs Honorable Saad Al Sunaidi turnover the 60 tons of pressed dates that was donated by the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the World Food Programme Philippines headed by the Representative and Country Director Stephen Anderson. The 60 tons of pressed dates will benefit the vulnerable conflict-affected communities in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
According to Anderson, the 60 tons of pressed dates will benefit 30, 000 families in ARMM that includes Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi. Each family will receive 2 kilograms of pressed dates which will be distributed by WFP in area which will be beneficial for them especially this were easy to keep. The total amount of the 60 tons of pressed dates that they the The Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia donated has the estimated value of US$197,405.00.
