After the success of the 300 in 2007, Warner Bros Pictures brings the prequel of action film entitled 300: Battle of Artemisia. Also directed by Zack Snyder, these fantasy action film stars Eva Green as Artemisia, it is her latest movie with Warner Bros Pictures after the success of Dark Shadows with Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer and Helena Bonham Cartera. 300: Battle of Artemisia also star Sullivan Stapleton, Callan Mulvey, Rodrigo Santoro and Jamie Blackley and will be showing in all cinemas by 2013.
Commonly known as the Battle of Salamis, the Battle of Artemisia follows the battle between the Alliance of Greek city-states and the Persian Empire in September 480 BCE, in the straits between the mainland and Salamis, an island in the Saronic Gulf near Athens. The film also explains how Xerxes became ‘the God King’ which was shown in the film 300.
The project of 300: Battle of Artemisia began in June 2008 with producers Mark Canton, Gianni Nunnari and Bernie Goldmann. Legendary Pictures also announced that Frank Miller is writing the follow-up graphic novel that time, and Zack Snyder will be directing the film adaptation. They’re currently shooting the film and targeting the 2013 release which it will be one of the anticipated movie of Warner Bros Pictures after the success of 300 with Gerard Butler, Lena Headey and Rodrigo Santoro.
