In line with the eco-tourism campaign in Palawan where they wanted everyone to experience and appreciate the beauty of nature and making them realize the importance of conservation and preservation, the Palawan’s Arena Island launches the ‘Click to Save’ campaign in order to support the Pawikan Conservation Campaign in the area. With a contest currently running on their official Facebook page, participants will be aware of the conservation efforts for the endangered pawikan or native sea turtles in Arena Island in the town of Narra, Palawan. And through them, the information about the conservation project will spread/ be shared to their friends and followers through Facebook. In return for their support they will get the chance to have a free vacation to the island.
Participants must like the official Arena Island’s Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/arenaisland) and change their profile picture with one of Arena Island’s campaign badges including “Rescue me from becoming a belt or shoe”, “Save us from turning into soup”’, and other statements committing support for pawikan conservation. Tag five friends in the profile picture and have them ‘Like’ Arena’s FB fan page too. The campaign runs until May 31, 2012 and winner of the all-expense paid trip to the Arena Island for three days and two nights will be determined by electronic raffle and will be announced on June 1, 2012
Up to date, the Arena Island in Narra, Palawan is the haven of five (5) of the world’s endangered sea turtles species including the green turtles, leatherbacks, and hawksbill turtles. With their advocacy program called the Pugad Pawikan Pilipinas, it aims to ensure their protection and conservation of the sea turtles in the area.
