Instead of having Shrek this year which I posted late last year, Atlantis Productions decided to stage Walt Disney’s Aladdin the Musical at the Meralco Theater on November-December 2012. Directed by Bobby Garcia and it will star ABS-CBN artists K-La Rivera and Tom Rodriguez.
This musical marks K-La’s second project with Atlantis Productions after the success of In the Heights last year at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in RCBC Plaza, Makati City and it had its re-run last March 2012 in the same venue. K-La played the role of Nina Rosario, the first to go to college (Stanford University), and everyone in the barrio admires her and becomes Benny’s fiancé which was played by Felix Rivera in the production. Now, she’s playing the role of Jasmine, the princess of Agrabah who tries to blend it with ordinary people by going out on the street on a disguise. K-La came from the singing reality show of ABS-CBN entitled Star Power where she is part of the final 5.
For the very first time, Pinoy Big Brother Double Up alumni and now ABS-CBN artist Tom Rodriguez will be doing theater with Atlantis Productions as Aladdin in their November-December 2012 offering. Aladdin is a poor but kind-hearted Agrabah thief who discovered the genie inside the magic lamp that offers him three wishes that changes his life which includes the girl whom she fell in love with – Jasmine. Before taking this new challenge in his career Tom appeared in ABS-CBN’s Angelito: Batang Ama, Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Mana Po and Your Song Presents: Isla. He also appeared in movies like Here Comes The Bride, Petrang Kabayo and Temptation Island.
Disney’s Aladdin the Musical is Atlantis Productions’ November-December presentation for 2012 where as their last year project was Little Mermaid also a Disney title that stars Rachelle Ann Go and Erik Santos.
