In line with the disaster preparedness campaign, World Food Programme (WFP) handed
over four lap-top computers, one tower server and one blade server,
with a total value of around PhP 650,000 to the Department of Social
Welfare and Development (DSWD) last March 1. It is part of the grant given by the United States Agency for
International Development/Office for Foreign Disaster Assistance
(USAID/OFDA) in support of the Disaster Preparedness and Response project of WFP and DSWD.
This hardware is part of a long-term initiative to better harness information and communication technologies to improve DSWD’s logistical tracking and information flows during natural disaster responses.
Present in the turnover are DSWD Director of the Information and Communication Technology Management System Mr. Felino Castro V, DSWD Assistant Secretary Vilma Cabrera Mr. George Pornaras, Project Consultant at DSWD, WFP Country Director and Representative Stephen Anderson, WFP Coordinator of Disaster Preparedness and Response Abraham Abatneh, WFP Head of Logistics Dragoslav Djuraskovic and USAID Program Officer Karen Smith.
