Veteran Broadway and Tony Award-winning actress Lea Salonga officially launches her latest album entitled The Journey So Far under Ivory Music & Video. Lea was known for her fantastic performances as Kim in the musical Miss Saigon, Grizabella in the Manila run of Cats, and Fantine and Eponine in the musical Les Misérables. She’s also the singing voice of Princess Jasmine for Aladdin and Fa Mulan for Mulan and Mulan II.
According to Salonga, she wanted to make this recording something very personal, touching on hery life as well as her career. “There are songs from my homeland, musical theater, film, and the jazz and pop worlds…this is more than just a recording; it’s a memento, a lasting souvenir of this very special time in my life.” She said.
Her latest album “The Journey So Far” is her 26th CD release where the very first was Small Voice at the age of 10. Lea is one of the Filipino prides and a recipient of the Presidential Award of Merit from Philippine President Corazon Aquino. Aside from the awards she receive including the Olivier, Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics and Theatre World awards for Miss Saigon, Lea was nominated Goodwill Ambassador of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
