In line with the International Women’s Day, World Food Programme launches a campaign for Asia in support for mother and child health and nutrition. Headlined as “One Child. One Life. One Chance”, WFP aims to raise support for their nutrition program for mothers and children in Asia with the support of E! News Asia host and Malaysian celebrity mother Marion Caunter.
With poor nutrition it can lead to irreversible damage to children’s minds and bodies and destroy their potential. The provision of the right nutrition for the development of healthy bodies and healthy minds in Asia — especially in first 1,000 days of life, from the womb to the age of two — is crucial for our children to achieve their full development potential.
With the help of Caunter, WFP will raise funds to support the nutritional needs of mothers and children in poor regions in Asia. According to Monica Marshall, Global Head of Private Partnerships for WFP, she said that by empowering women with the right food and nutrition, we can fight hunger in the first 1000 days of life. Where women are considered front liners of hunger in the world because the’re the one who bares a child who is need of right nutrition until they raised them.
The United Nations World Food Programme works in over 70 countries around the world and in 14 countries in Asia, nourishing children through the whole life cycle, building the brains and bodies of the next generation.
