World Food Programme (WFP) officially kicks off with the 6 Degrees of FreeRice Project from February 6-11, 2012. The campaign encourages the FreeRice players to encourage six of their friends to join the community site and play the game. This is part of the campaign in the celebration of World FreeRice Week and letting everyone to take part in fighting hunger worldwide.
Using the theory of Six Degrees of Separation where it states that world is connected to every other person in the world through, at most, six other people. With this kind of concept applied in www.FreeRice.com, instead of having just 10 grains of rice per correct answer, WFP can receive 70 grains of rice if the player together with his six other friends playing at the same time and having correct answer. In 10 correct answers the player together with his friends will produce 7 cups or bowl of rice for WFP.
www.FreeRice.com is a vocabulary game website of World Food Programme where a player can register using his or her email, Facebook or Twitter account. It is available in French, Spanish, Italian, Korean, Chinese, and English language to cater more to bigger audience.
