In line with the partnership of World Food Programme and Cebu-based bread distributor Julie’s Bakeshop the campaign of helping the children of Central Mindanao was brought in the streets of Cebu City for Sinulog 2012. Present in the float were WFP Country Director and Representative Stephen L. Anderson and CEO of Julie’s Bakeshop Joseph Gandionco. The participation is to create awareness among the Cebuanos and guests at the Sinulog Festival on how the can reach out to the children of Central Mindanao when they purchase the Bayan Sliced Bread of Julie’s Bakeshop.
For every purchased of the Bayan Sliced Bread, Php2.00 will be given to WFP in support with the school feeding program that will help the nourishment of the students who usually 3 or 5 students goes to school with an empty stomach. With this project feeding the child can actually help them focus more with their studies as they build their dreams. This campaign started in connection with the World Food Day campaign of WFP last year which is feeding a child, feeding a dream. Also the funds that were raised through the Bayan Sliced Bread will actually help our fellow Filipinos in Sendong-affected areas of Mindanao.
