It’s been a week since Typhoon Sendong (Washi) brought damage to Iligan, Cagayan de Oro and other provinces in Mindanao that caused almost thousands of lives and others homeless. World Food Programme (WFP), a humanitarian agency of United Nations works with the national and local government of the Philippines and targets to support 250, 000 victims of the disaster over the three months. Their main goal is to provide them with efficient and nutritious food especially the children and delivering immediate relief and hope to those affected.

In three months WFP in partnership with the government plans to provide them with:

  • 5 kgs of rice and 5 kg of vegetable oil per family
  • 50g of high-energy biscuits as a supplementary food. WFP intends to support 160,000 people.
  • 2 jars per child of Plumpy Doz, a ready-to-use supplementary food. WFP intends to support up to 15,000 young children and infants.
  • Logistics support for the delivery of 30,000 Philippine Government family food packs before Christmas Eve for all evacuees and other highly affected people.
  • Additional non-food items from the UN Humanitarian Response Depot in Subang, Malaysia.
  • Effective and efficient logistics support to augment the efforts of the Government of Philippines and other humanitarian organizations involved in the emergency response.
  • Cash and voucher programs for low-income and vulnerable families affected by the tropical storm to purchase food available in local markets.

Together we can make this happen, reaching out to those who are in need. Let pass that hope in Mindanao and let them feel that there will be a beautiful day that will come their way. Visit https://www.wfp.org/donate/emergencies and let’s make that hope moving to Mindanao now!
