The artist who owned the character Wolverine is back on the big screen with another action movie with a touch of father and son relationship. Hugh Jackman plays the role of Charlie Kenton in DreamWorks Pictures’ Real Steel. The movie directed by Shawn Levy features Dakota Goyo, Evangeline Lilly, Anthony Mackie and Kevin Durand. It is now showing in all cinemas nationwide and it is available on IMAX and regular format.
The science fiction action film is set on 2020 where human boxers where replaced by robots. Charlie (Jackman), a former boxer who wanted to continue his dream to succeed on the ring joined the robot boxing illegally and found himself in debt with the loan sharks. During the hard times of his life he was reunited with his son Max (Goyo) after his ex-wife died. Being a fan of robot boxing, Max discovered Atom from a junkyard and program the robot a fighting machine. With Atom joining the team, Charlie tries to regain his dignity back and his relationship to his son.
Visually, I love how the movie was executed especially in IMAX. Seeing an action packed and graphics filled movie, it is worth watching on wider and bigger screen to appreciate the details of how the robots looks like and also the excitement that the long shots showing the sceneries and crowd in the boxing scenes. Dolby sound system always give that kick in every climatic and thrilling part of the movie it really adds to the beat of the emotions of the movie goers.
Real Steel, aside from the action packed scenes it also has the heart that is worth watching with friends and love ones. Like what I said in my title it is a father-son story made exciting with gigantic robot boxing plot. For Filipinos, the set up may be similar to People’s Champ Manny Pacquaio after Atom was awarded the title “People’s Champ” in the story. Of course, I don’t want to spoil the whole story so check out Real Steel and I suggest see it on IMAX to enjoy all the action scenes and the impressive production of the movie.
The film is locally distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International.
