Dear Sir/ Mam:
We are in a situation that only a miracle from GOD could save us.
Everyday is a struggle for our family to look for resources in order to
raise the amount we will be needing in order to save the life of our
dear Keanu. For six months in the hospital, it is by the grace of GOD
that we are able to survived this far. At first I cannot accept the
truth that my son was sick…. it was a journey of Faith, Hope and Love
for my little one that holds and keeps us going.
KEANU RUIZ GERONIMO is a 7 years old boy. An honor student and a very
active boy who loves to go to school. At his age, he should be at
school. My boy has been spending his days at the Philippine General
Hospital. Since May 26, 2011 he was undergoing treatment at this
institution. He was diagnosed MYELODYSPLASTIC SYNDROME.
Myelodysplastic Syndrome ( MDS ) is a disease of bone marrow cells. It
is a disorder in which the cells in the bone marrow don\’t function
normally and not enough normal blood cells are produced, which caused
anemia. Keanu myelodysplastic syndrome is very severe, he does not
respond to medication very well. He needs to receive a Stem Cell (bone
marrow) Transplant to replace the unhealthy bone marrow cells with
healthy ones that can produce normal blood cells.
A Stem Cell (Bone Marrow) Transplant can be done at the St. Lukes
Hospital. The BMT program will costs P 4,000,000 for the procedure alone
excluding professional fees and other post operation expenses. I\’m a
single parent with no work because I\’m the one personally attending to
my son needs. My parents have been supporting me from the start but
because of their meager income their help is limited. We are financially
incapacitated and in no way we could afford the high cost of the said
transplant. We approached and literally beg for help to other government
agencies, institutions and even private individuals for help. We have
exhausted all measures and resources (loans) but still not enough to
raised said amount.
At present he is under the care and love of Dr. Ysabel Lesaca-Medina, a
Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, Philippine General Hospital/Makati
Medical Center. Her dedication to her profession is unquestionable, her
love for her patient is amazing and her faith is so inspiring. It is for
this reason, that I made this request with the faith that while we are
in a situation we are hoping for a miracle, we also believe in the
humanity and compassion of other people can save him.
I pray that our family will be one of the recipients of your kind
generosity. We shall be very grateful for any benevolent assistance that
you could extend to us to help save the life of Keanu. Attached herewith
is a photocopy of the estimates of the Bone Marrow Transplant ,Picture
and Medical Abstract for your reference.
Thank you very much and God Bless!!!
Very Truly Yours,
Kaila Riza B. Geronimo
