From the success of Master Class, the Philippine Opera Company brings another musical play and this time pays tribute to kundiman or harana, a traditional form of courtship in the Philippines. To immortalize these classic Filipino songs POC on its 2011-2012 season brings Ang Bagong Harana at the Carlos P. Auditorium, RCBC Plaza in Makati City from September 29-October 1 only. This all Filipino musical play was directed by multi-awarded writer, director and Carlos Palanca winner Floy Quinto.
Ang Bagong Harana will showcase songs from various Filipino composers coming from different music genres including Nicanor Abelardo, Ryan Cayabyab, Willy Cruz, Francisco Santiago, Antonio Molina, Resti Umali, George Canseco, Ernani Cuenco, Levi Celerio, Jose Estrella, Constancio De Guzman and Felipe de Leon. Mixing the old songs to the new one, where they re-edited and re-arrange it to appeal on the younger audience and to appreciate the beauty and soul of Kundiman. While the production designs and costumes were meticulously research by the artistic team of the POC to make every scenes and stories authentic depending on the genre and era in various scenes of the play.
Joining the cast of Ang Bagong Harana were Philippine theater’s celebrated singers like Karla Gutierrez, Aizel Prietos, Charley Magalit, Janine Santos, Marian Santiago, Lawrence Jatayna, Jack Salud, Nazer Salcedo, Marvin Gayramon, Al Gatmaitan, Jurgen Unterberg and Floyd Tena.
