It is rare for me to visit Robinson’s Galleria in Ortigas for two reasons; first there’s no MRT station in front of the mall where it takes you 10-15 minute walk from the Ortigas MRT station near SM Megamall and second I don’t like MMDA footbridges. So it was the first time I saw Hyphy’s Restaurant in The Veranda when I had the chance to drop by at Rob Galle 2 weeks ago to look for something in their department store. The restaurant offers a variety of San Francisco cuisine enhanced by Chef Bruce Lim to make it more appealing to the Filipino taste.
The seating capacity of the restaurant is around 150, 80-90 guests can be accommodated inside and the around 60-70 outside. I like the interior, the skateboard designs on the wall and high ceiling and the natural lighting gives that capacious feeling inside the restaurant. Most of the food they serve is good for 2-3 persons per serving.
It is a diced chicken thigh sautéed with water chestnuts, and shitake mushrooms in a sotanghon noodles and fresh cups of iceberg lettuce. It is better to eat with bear hands and roll it gently to avoid the ingredients fall. It is mix of appetizer and salad that has sweet chestnut flavor.
I call it the platter of goodness, this salad that is good up to four persons and all thye ingredients are properly arranged so that those who will be getting can get what they only want. The cob salad contains violet and green Romaine lettuce properly arrange on the side while other ingredients like black olives, cherry tomatoes, diced cheddar cheese, diced grilled chicken breast and light dressing.
I love the sardine pasta of CIBO, but after trying the Calamansi Tuyo Pasta of Chef Bruce it gives me a good idea what I can do more with my morning weekend breakfast to make it more as a pasta dish. The presentation is simple, pasta noodles tossed in light garlic olive oil with tuyo bits and cheese to bring out that salty taste. Topped with fried tuyo and bread sticks, you have the option to squeeze calamansi in it to give that sour salty taste that is very appetizing aside from the aroma it releases.
It is also known as Chow Mien for others. It is a pasta dish tossed on savory peppery tomato sauce that make it spicy and topped with tender braised beef.
For those who wanted to have a non hassle dish that all you need is your bare hands while enjoying good food while having conversation this sandwich is perfect for you. I love the tenderness of the sweet sliced beef sautéed in caramelized onions and pepper topped by cheese on a homemade sandwich. It comes with fried potatoes on the side to compliment with the sandwich.
After the hearty meal, the best way to end it is with a bitter sweet Tablea Chocolate Torte that is good for two persons and perfect partner with a cup of brewed coffee or chamomile tea. It is made of tablea chocolate enhanced with coffee and top with cream, cherry and crumbs of caramelized sugar.
Dining at Hyphy’s in the Veranda of Robinson’s Galleria is very comforting. The ambiance inside is very relaxing with the food they serve that is good for 2-3 persons per order. I suggest next time you visit with your family and friends at Rob Galleria drop by and dine at Chef Bruce’s Hyphy’s.
