Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation brings the star of TV series “How I Met Your Mother”- Niel Patrick Harris to the big screen to plays the role of Patrick Winslow for the hybrid live-action and animated family comedy, “The Smurfs”. The film was directed by Raja Gosnell and features the voices of Jonathan Winters (Papa Smurf), Katy Perry (Smurfette), Anton Yelchin (Clumsy Smurf), Allan Cumming (Gutsy Smurf) and George Lopez (Groucy Smurf). The film will be shown in all cinemas nationwide beginning August 10, 2011, available on 3D and regular format.
Patrick Winslow is a young marketing executive for the New York City based cosmetics company Anjelou where he met the Smurfs who was transported to New York City through a magical portal. With his wife Grace (Jayma Mays), they welcome the Smurfs in the home and hide them from Gargamel (Hank Azaria), an evil wizard from the Middle Ages who wanted to use them in order to change lead to gold.
According to Harris working with Raja was easy and satisfying. “Raj did a great job – he had to deal with so many weird little things happening all at the same time. Not only do you have all the ordinary stuff – making sure the actors hit their marks and it’s all lit correctly – but you might have an animal in the scene, or maybe bowls on monofilament that in the final shot the Smurfs will be carrying around… Raj had to keep it all in his head so that when you see the movie, you never think about any of that – it’s just that the Smurfs are part of our world.” He ended.
The Smurfs also features voices of B.J Novak, Wolfgang Puck and Fred Armisen. The animated film will be distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. Visits www.sonypictures.com.ph to see the latest trailers, get free downloads and play free movie games.
