Before I was doubtful that there was an authentic Chinese Restaurant located at the Bagtikan Street along Chino Roses Avenue (formerly Pasong Tamo) in Makati City. That area is no longer the business area of Makati and it is more of the residential so I am not expecting to see a restaurant on that side. But of course I was wrong, there was Hong Kong Roast: HKR Food Express few blocks away from the street of Pasong Tamo that can accommodate up to 50 guests and serving authentic Chinese cuisine and it was owned by Mary Chan who is food lover and a graduate of Hotel and Restaurant Management from Dominican College.
The ambiance of Hong Kong Roast: HKR Food Express is similar to any Chinese restaurant you see in Binondo and Banawe but they offer easy to the budget meals that are suitable to all yuppies working in business area of Makati that is just 10-15 walk from Ayala Avenue and Chino Roses Avenue. They offer wide range of Dimsum, Noodles and Rice Toppings.
Succulent roasted pork meat marinated in asado sauce brings out the sweetness of the pork in between layer of the meat. It is good for 2-3 persons.
This is one of the dishes I enjoyed in HKR because you can actually enjoy the juiciness of the roasted chicken. Even it is roasted you can still taste that sweet-moist chicken meat that is usually lacking with others.
Siomai with rice is a very common meal for me especially when the size of it is bigger from the usual and has more fillings rather than the wrapper.
Maybe when they say heavy or light it is the amount of servings. It a hofan noodles cooked on light oil with bean sprout and tender beef strips. A bowl of it is already a perfect meal for me.
I find this dish comporting especially on a cold weather like this. The curry flavor mixed with the sweet taste of beef meat. All the flavors blend perfectly in the soup which I enjoyed so much aside from eating the rich egg noodles and half cooked bok choy.
I’m not that incline with this dish especially the way it look. It is a chopped black chicken sautéed in light sesame oil, onions, ginger and garlic. But it has this sweet taste like the usual chicken adobo but I hard time eating the meat that is attach on the bones. Obvious part of the black chicken is the head and feet.
A sinfully good French Toast that has Chinese Peanut butter inside in a sweet buttery bread. The soft sweet moist bread melts in your mouth and the best way to end with a hearty lunch or dinner. But wait, it is also a delicious option for snacks with a cup of brewed coffee or tea.
Hong Kong Roast: HKR Food Express is another option for those working in Makati having a hard time to look for a best place to have lunch or dinner. It just a taxi away or a jeep away from Ayala or Pasong Tamo with less than 5 minute walk in the corner and enjoy a quiet place with delicious Chinese food with your friends and co-workers. They also offer delivery within Makati City and nearby areas.
