After gaining huge number of followers in Makati City after opening their first branch in Serendra last November 2010, Chuck’s Deli opened their second store at Eastwood City to cater to shoppers, call center employees and residents in Quezon City. The emerging sandwich chain is located in the ground floor of Eastwood Mall in Libis for almost 2 months already. It has 40 seating capacity inside and 24 outside and it is owned by Chef Katrina Kuhn-Alcantara and her husband Marco Alcantara.
I already visited their Serendra branch and tried some of their slabwiches particularly the Jessica’s Meltdown and Reuben. When we talk about slabwiches it is the signature sandwich of Chuck’s Deli that is a half kilo in weight and its 10 inch long crunchily toasted ciabatta. What I like with their homemade ciabatta is that it has crisp crust and has a moist crumb that is perfect for hefty meat fillings. Slabwiches can be ordered in half or whole slab depending on your appetite, they are also serving subwiches, burgers, soups, flatwiches, salads and of course don’t ever miss their American beverages such as Rootbear float of A&W, Coca Cola’s Dr. Pepper, Fanta Grape and Mello Yello that is rare to find in supermarkets here in the Philippines. They also offer milkshakes that is made from fresh carabao milk that brings out the rich flavor in all the blends they offer and also some cakes for deserts for sweet tooth in you.
It is a peking style slabwiches that it uses roast pork meat rather than duck meat as fillings but still has that sweet taste of hoisin sauce. And it was made more delicious with lettuce, leeks & crispy noodles preserving that peking duck feel but substituting it with pork meat that will really surprise all the first timer who will be ordering this at Chuck’s Deli.
Mom always use ox tongue only if she is cooking lengua estofado, and in Chuck’s Deli they serve it with ciabatta. They slowly cooked the ox tongue or lengua on brine with spices to make it tender. It is serve it sauerkraut (finely shredded sour or fermented cabbage) and garlicky horseradish spread to bring out the sweet flavor of the ox tongue that every one will never forget.
A slabwich that is perfect for those who love spicy. The Buffy or Buffalo Chicken sandwich is 100% spicy and served with garlic sauce. For those who think that they can handle this kind of sandwich, Chuck’s Deli created a challenge to “Slay the Buffy” or consume the whole slab it for only 5 minutes and it will be free and they will take home exclusive I Slay the Buffy t-shirt and their name with the amount of time they consume the sandwich will be posted on the store.
Enjoy the tender beef meat cut to strips with American cheese, caramelized onions, bell peppers and mushrooms in a fresh from the oven hoagies or sub/submarine sandwiches.
Another spicy sandwich from Chuck’s Deli and this time it is a fresh from the oven poppy & sesame seed sprinkled buns. It is a chorizo patty with lettuce, tomato, Chuck’s sauce and mayo mustard. There’s an option to add egg for additional cost of P20.
All sandwiches are served with home-made chips or onions. The preparation of each sandwich is very simple, the sandwich on a wooden slab lined with paper. With this Chuck’s Deli encourages all their diners to eat their sandwiches with their bare hands. That’s why they included hand sanitizers in each table to make it easy for their clients who wanted to make sure that their hands are clean.
I love milkshake but among the beverages, it was Dr. Pepper got my attention among the sodas in their see through refrigerator. Looking forward for the third branch I hope it is near EDSA in Quezon City.
