Universal Pictures brings an alien movie entitled Paul that will separate us from the mushy E.T, and ruthless Predators. The sci-fi comedy film directed by Greg Mottola and written by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost who also played the main roles in the movie with Seth Rogen doing the voice of the alien named Paul. The movie is now showing (June 1) in all theaters nationwide released by United International Pictures and distributed through Solar Entertainment Corporation.
The movie follows the adventure of Graeme Willy (Pegg) and Clive Gollings (Frost), best friends and both comic book nerds who traveled to America to attend the annual Comic-Con. Being obsessed with alien story, Clive and Graeme take on a road trip with their RV to visit sites that has extraterrestrial stories. On the road they met Paul, an alien who is in desperate need of their help to find the place where he will make contact and go back to their planet.
Unlike other alien movies, where it is either drama or action-horror – Paul is different, it play around in a character that moves and talks like human that makes the film interesting. The production is not that big in terms of visual effects and the story line is simple, the character and wittiness of Paul defies what is lacking in the movie, including the inconsistency of Nick Frost’s facial hair which for others it may not be that important, same with the hairstyle and gestures/clothing of Simon Pegg. The humor in the story is more adult, which may not appeal to younger and conservative viewers. But for those who just want to enjoy this twisted alien movie and have a good laugh all I can say it is worth it.
The movie also includes special participation/cameo role of Steven Spielberg, Ryan Ottley, Cory Walker, and Robert Kirkman; also starring Jason Bateman, Sigourney Weaver, Jane Lynch, and Kristen Wiig. Paul is now showing in all cinemas nationwide presented by Universal Pictures, released by United International Pictures and distributed through Solar Entertainment Corporation.
