There’s a new café opened in Sunvar Plaza Corner Amorsolo Street & Pasay Road that offers an alternative way of enjoying your morning fix. I am talking about the pandesal that is always part of every Filipino’s breakfast meal. In Kitch Café it they created a tasty and delicious pizza like dishes using the rich and flavorful pandesal dough.
I was fortunate enough with my friends to try the seven pizza-like dishes of Kitch Café which is now available in their restaurant:
Tinapang Bangus (Smoked Milkfish) and Cheese – Pandesal dough topped with chunks of tinapang bangus with mozzarella cheese, cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, sour cream, tomato sauce, capers and olives
Pizza Verde– Pandesal dough topped with pesto sauce, asparagus and smoked chicken slices.
Kesong Puti (White Cheese) and Sun Dried Tomatoes– Pandesal dough topped sweet tomato sauce, melted kesong puti, mozzarella cheese and sun dried tomatoes.
Hungarian Sausage and Basil– Pandesal dough topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, sliced Hungarian sausage and basil leaves.
Peking Chicken Pizza– Pandesal dough topped with Peking style roast chicken breast in Hoisin sauce. Blended with oyster sauce, mozzarella cheese, garlic chips, mayonnaise, and spring onions.
Chicken Curry Pizza– Pandesal dough topped with chicken curry, mozzarella cheese and basil leaves.
Fig and Bleu Cheese– A mixture of sweet and salty taste coming from blue cheese and caramelized figs on a pandesal dough with tomato sauce.
The seven pizza is a collaboration of Oriental, Mediterranean, American and Filipino style which will cater to all loyal and new diners of Kitch Café. From the seven, I have four on my list which include; Tinapang Bangus and Cheese, Pizza Verde, Hungarian Sausage and Basil and Peking Chicken Pizza. The Tinapang Bangus and Cheese reminds me of Sardine Pizza/Pasta where it has the distinctive taste of fish mixed with salty sweetness of cheese and olives. This time it is more appetizing in terms of the aroma which we find enjoying every time we eat smoked bangus and the way it blended with cheese, tomato sauce and rich pandesal dough.
As for Pizza Verde, the healthy green pizza gives me a new idea what to do with my left over pesto sauce at home. The pesto sauce compliments with the sweet taste and aroma of pandesal dough making it more delectable as it goes perfectly with freshly steamed asparagus and smoked chicken slices. Lastly for the Hungarian Sausage and Basil and Peking Chicken Pizza, it is worth a meal instead or should I say it is equivalent of having rice meal and it is good for two-three persons already. According to Chef Mildred Smith, all the pizza pandesal will be sold between 80-130 pesos depending on the toppings. Maybe they should come out with make your own pizza pandesal option to let diners explore and maybe they can add it up on their menu soon.
Aside from the pizza pandesal, and other dishes like sandwiches and pasta that the offer in Kitch Café is that the ambiance that friends and officemates would love to see and experience. The comfy atmosphere of the the café makes a perfect hangout for fun and relaxing Friday and Saturday hang out, and after work or school dinner or lunch. All the decors and set up where headed by Chef Mildred including all the plates used in serving dishes and decors in Kitch Café.
