It was very surprising to see a film that stars Russel Brand that is beyond the usual comedy theme that he usually offer. The film Arthur, was a remake of the 1981 film with the same title and now written directed by Steve Gordon. Aside from Brand, the movie also stars Helen Mirren, Jennifer Garner, Greta Gerwig, and Nick Nolte and it is showing in all cinemas nationwide beginning April 23.
The comedy-family film follows the boozy playboy rascal named Arthur Bach (Brand) , who will inherit $980 Million and soon to be the heir family corporation. But the way he looks towards life and the way he lives at it intoxicated and wasteful with their resouces, Vivienne (Geraldine), his mother created an agreement that in order to secure his wealth he must marry Susan Johnson (Garner). Arthur being a rascal and playboy will try his best to break that agreement until he discovered Naomi Quinn (Gerwig), a tour guide and by falling in love with her was the greatest reason he needed. With the help of Lillian Hobson (Mirren), his nanny and best friend, he will learn to he is strong and knows how stand to be a man for the person he love.
Warner Bros Pictures did a wonderful job in distributing this kind of feel good comedy film. At first I was a little doubtful on the movie, to be honest I don’t have a plan to check the 1981 version to avoid comparison. With that, I have the reason of not knowing the storyline of Arthur until I saw it on film during the special screening. It was simple and common, rich extravagant reb el guy fell in love with a poor girl with so many ambitions in life and changes him to be a better person. But what I enjoyed in the movie is their speaking lines that’s really touching and odd on a comedy film. Among the characters it was Hobson that I really love the most. Being a veteran and award winning actress like Helen Mirren she played a nanny role and she did portrayed the role well. If you will be asking me if I enjoyed the movie, my answer was yes and Mirren did a great job in putting the heart in the film.
Arthur will be showing in all cinemas nationwide beginning April 23 and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
