From Cinema One Original’s Confessional and Faculty of ANC’s Ambisyon 2010, award winning director Jerrold Tarog created another movie that will bring back all the memories of high school in film entitled Senior Year. With real students from Elizabeth Seton who auditioned for the role, they will be supported by actors LJ Moreno, Ramon Bautista, Che Ramos, Ina Feleo, Arnold Reyes, Dimples Romana and RJ Ledesma.
What makes this movie worth watching? If you saw Jerrold’s entry for Ambisyon 2010 of ANC entitled Faculty where it features two faculty employees played by Che Ramos and Bea Garcia. Where Che was reprimanded by the university after bringing students to the street to protest, she resigned and had an argument to Bea who was her friend in the school. Instead of applying to another university, Che decided to teach economics in high school. This is where the story of Senior Year begins, having different class and seeing the sense of individuality which was represented by 10 students; Henry, Stephanie, Bunda, Solenn, Sofia, Bridget, Briggs, Chito, Carlo and Mitch.
The movie gives us a perfect excuse to bring back all our high school memories and see our selves in every student that was shown in the film. Even they are new in the acting career, the students did a wonderful and very natural performance simply because the role they doing is what they are currently in. I enjoyed the character of Mitch, Bunda and Carlo, they may not be the center of the limelight in the story but the three of them including Solenn did a wonderful and hilarious performance which majority of the viewers will see themselves in each character. Mitch who is a witty rebel girl has a share in every one of us during high school, and also there is a part of Carlo and Bunda inside us who’s keeping ourselves strong despite of inner struggle and family problem or conflict. And of course, high school life will never become that exciting without a Solenn in every batch a witty fashionista who doesn’t even care what others might think of her.
Senior Year is currently showing in all SM Cinemas beginning March 9, 2011; South Mall, Bacoor, Manila, Megamall, Fairview, North Edsa, Mall of Asia, Cebu, Davao, Sta. Mesa, Pampanga and Clark. For more information, log on to www.senioryear.digitankstudios.com.
