Walt Disney Pictures brings the sequel of the 1982 film Tron that stars Jeff Bridges. Tron Legacy reprises the role of Kevin Flynn and Clu which were played by Bridges. The sci-fi action film also stars Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Beau Garrett and Bruce Boxleitner. It is directed by Joseph Kosinski and showing beginning December 18.
Twenty years after the Kevin Flynn disappeared, Sam (Hedlund) his son returned to their arcade shop. Accidentally Sam was transported to the grid with the machine that Kevin created. He discovered the creation of his father, including Clu who is now ruling the place while his father hides himself away from him. With Quorra (Wilde) and his father, they will try to stop Clu and return to the human world.
Tron Legacy is better on 3D format because of the “neon” lights that is part of the characters costume. The visual effects and the scoring played a very important role in the movie to strengthen the storyline. Good thing that Disney revisits the 1981 film by putting some footage so that the movie goers who haven’t seen the first movie can see how it was started.
Before I watched the sequel, I had my chance to see the first one, and all I can say that except from the visual effects that changed and improved, the storyline and the conflict remained consistent. Even there was a change the director.
Tron Legacy will be showing in all cinemas nationwide beginning December 18, and during the 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival, SM IMAX will still show the movie, until its return in all cinemas by January 2011. The film is distributed Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Philippines.
