>On November 16, President Noynoy Aquino declares the day National Holiday or non-working day for others because of the celebration of our Muslim brothers of Eid’l Adha. It is under Presidential Proclamation No. 60 and signed by President Aquino on Nov. 9.
The said Islamic tradition is one of the greatest feasts of our Muslim brothers like Eid ul-Fitr. Eid’l Adha or also known ad the Festival of Sacrifice commemorates the willingness of Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his son Ishmael (Isma’il) as an act of obedience to God, but instead was able to sacrifice a ram (by God’s command). In tradition each family sacrifice a domestic animals like cow, sheep, goat, or camel, by slaughter as their offer to God. After the offer the meat will be divided into three, the fist part is for the family to keep, the second is for the relatives and the third will be given to the needy and poor as sign of sharing the love of God to us all. The said Muslim tradition egins with a Wajib prayer of two Raka’ah followed by a sermon (khuṭbah).
The said celebration which was made to be National Holiday by Malacañang was confirmed by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF). To my fellow and brother in the Islamic faith a meaningful and blessed celebration of Eid’l Adha to all on November 16.
