Last September 29, Lucasfilm Ltd. Announced that the live-action Star Wars Movie will be converted on 3D and it will be distributed in all theaters worldwide by Twentieth Century Fox. The 3D conversion of the Star Wars Saga was supervised by the Industrial Light & Magic and the first 3D movie of Star Wars entitled Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace will be released on 2012.
“Getting good results on a stereo conversion is a matter of taking the time and getting it right,” said John Knoll, Visual Effects Supervisor for Industrial Light & Magic. “It takes a critical and artistic eye along with an incredible attention to detail to be successful. It is not something that you can rush if you want to expect good results. For Star Wars we will take our time, applying everything we know both aesthetically and technically to bring audiences a fantastic new Star Wars experience.”
Star Wars Saga on 3D is one of the biggest projects that Fox Filmed Entertainment (FFE) will be producing, acquired and distributed in the following years. FFE includes Twentieth Century Fox, Fox 2000 Pictures, Fox Searchlight Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox Animation and Fox International Productions. Twentieth Century Fox International is a unit of Fox Filmed Entertainment, a segment of Fox Entertainment Group.
Lucasfilm owns the copyright and trademark of Star Wars and other properties related to the most popular sci-fi movie.
