It is a usual long distance relationship movie and the only difference it has from others films is the humor that makes the story going – this is how I describe the latest movie of Warner Bros Pictures entitled Going the Distance that is now showing in all cinemas nationwide. The romance comedy flick is directed by Nanette Burstein and featuring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long as lead stars of the said movie.
The film follows the lives Erin (Barrymore) and Garett (Long) who by accident met and fell in love to each other during summer where Erin works as an intern in a New York newspaper while Garett as an employee to a recording company. Their summer vacation love affair was cut short when Erin was forced to go back to San Francisco in to continue her studies and Garett left alone in NY. Complications of the so called long distance relationship came in making each one adjust in the time zone and even trust issues.
The story is simple where everyone can relate on the characters of Erin and Garett, but what I love the most in the film was the secondary characters that caught my attention like Corrine (Christina Applegate) and Dan (Charlie Day). The two characters break away from the usual romance drama scene of Garett and Erin putting some humor to spice up the movie especially in times of gray scenes. Going the Distance is somewhat sensitive movie for minors and some of the viewers because of some scenes that can be offending to them.
Going the Distance also features stars like Jason Sudeikis, Kelli Garner, and Jim Gaffigan. The film is now showing in all cinemas nationwide as of September 3 and distributed by Warner Bros Pictures.
