Walt Disney Pictures International brings a magical fantasy film to the big screen beginning July 15 – The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The film is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Jon Turteltaub and starring Nicolas Cage (Balthazar Blake), Jay Baruchel (Dave Stutler), Alfred Molina (Maxim Horvath), Teresa Palmer (Becky), Toby Kebbell (Drake Stone), Alice Krige (Morgana), Monica Bellucci (Veronica) and Robert Capron (Oliver).
The fantasy film is about the quest of Balthazar in search for the Prime Merlinian, the successor of Merlin who will become the powerful sorcerer in his generation and will inherit Merlin’s dragon ring and power. He discovered Dave, a young kid who coincidentally entered the antique shop and accepts the ring yet he mistakenly sets Horvath free from the grimhold, where underneath was Morgana the evil sorceress fused in the body of Veronica. The Prime Merlinian is the person who can defeat Morgana but he needs to be trained by Balthazar and become his apprentice.
Disney knows who to create magic with the visual effects which they have the edge in animation and computer graphics. While on the other hand, the story line is good but the flow is partly week in some parts that it really affects the movie as a whole. The concept of the person will became hero in times of emergency is very common as the film use it in the character of Dave. The film caters much with the children who will enjoy the movie and all the visuals.
Walt Disney Pictures distributes The Sorcerer’s Apprentice which is now showing in all cinemas nationwide, also available on Digital 3D format.
