20th Century Fox on its 75th anniversary will be re-releasing the James Cameron’s masterpiece – Avatar, starting August 27 exclusively in Digital 3D and IMAX cinemas nationwide.
The Avatar that will be re-releasing this August will contain additional more than eight (8) minutes of new footages compare from the December 2009 – January 2010 screening. Some scenes of this special edition were developed for more 3D viewing pleasure of those who haven’t seen it on the said format.
“Audiences repeatedly told me they wanted more of Pandora, and wished they could have stayed there longer. So we’re making that possible. AVATAR: SPECIAL EDITION will be exclusively in 3D, and will have eight minutes of never before seen footage, including new creatures and action scenes. Whether you already love the movie, or you’ve never seen it, with this Special Edition, you’ll be seeing it like never before,” comments James Cameron.
The 3D science fiction film will be taking us in a world where it will broaden our imagination. Set in 2154, where human are forced to search a new habitat where they can live and there they discovered the Earth-like moon in the Alpha Centauri star system called Pandora. Pandora is inhabited by the Na’vi, a ten-foot-tall, blue-skinned species of sapient humanoids having their own civilization and worships mother goddess Eywa. With abundant precious mineral called unobtanium and possible habitat, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), a paraplegic war veteran joins the unit who explores Pandora with Dr. Grace Augustine (Sigourney Weaver) was enforced by Administrator Parker Selfridge (Giovanni Ribisi) to observe the culture and get the trust of the Na’vi. Jake meets Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) who leads him to the clan of the Na’vi and thought him to live as one of them and soon they fell in love to each other. Jake faced the dilemma of whom he will be choosing his task or his heart. Avatar will show its viewers three things, friendship, responsibility and principles which will be obvious in the storyline along with the beautiful visuals of the film.
Avatar won the 2009 Academy Awards (Oscars) for Art Direction, Cinematography, and Visual Effects, and Best Motion Picture for Drama and Best Director during the 67th Golden Globe Awards. The film earns more than $2.7 billion in worldwide box office and a top selling movie in Blue-ray.
