>Beginning June 15 to August 15, SM Cinema will be accepting entries; short film or full length movies from aspiring student film makers for the SM Cinema Big Shot Indie Film Festival which will happen on January 2011, a month after the annual Metro Manila Film Festival.
Big Shot is open to all students in all colleges and universities, SM Cinema will be selecting top three (3) entries and will be awarded P500, 000 each (film makers) and will be mentored by the country’s top film makers who will be helping them to produce a full-length movie that will tackle modern day heroism. These movies will be shown in the SM Cinema Big Shot Indie Film Festival on January.
The Big Shot was formally launched last May 5 and its primary aim is to revolutionize the Philippine film industry. In line with the launch last May 5, Bakal Boys, an indie film that shows the life of the children who were metal divers in Baseco. The film was starred by multi-awarded actress Gina Pareño, Simon Ibarra, Jess Everdone, Cherry Malvar and Joe Gruta. The film is produced by Apogee Production and directed by Ruben dela Cruz. Bakal Boys also supported by the San Beda College and the Aquino Foundation.
